Giving the website a thorough seeing to, so if anyone cares to give the new version a try it's sitting temporarily at http://wildlifeinpixels.com/test_serve/test_index.html

There are 3 pages still to be finished and uploaded, Links, Print Sales and Presentations but the bulk of it is up and running.

It might not look at its best unless you're on a 24" monitor running around 1920x1200.

It's solid Flash too so if you're on a slow connection that might prove a little problematic too, though it's been speed tested by one or two already and there were no problems.

And you might get a script warning if you use certain versions of that stupid thing called IE - there's nothing harmful despite the daft warnings.

If you have resolution or speed problems can you please let me know so I can make changes accordingly.

Thanks for the feedback in advance :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:

A very nice website, just wonder though if your abstract work might have been better in a gallery of its own, Merely a suggestion not a criticism. I enjoyed having a look. well done. :toast:

Like the layout and easy to navigate.

Site works fine for me Andy and the images load quickly.
Lots of excellent images but I particularly like the Macro gallery.
Shame you no longer have the equipment reviews.

Thanks for the comments and feedback so far :toast:

I'd be interested to know what the average NPN viewer screen res is and their monitor sizes.

Justin, they were a bit shambolic on the old site, they will be redone and re-upped to the site over the next week or so (he says!). Having said that I might put them on my blog, when I get in a position to update that on a weekly basis - old age makes me forget things!

lovely site Andy and your images are second to none, but the galleries took a very long time to open for me. I'm on a very high speed work network as well which is way faster than my home broadband. Maybe there was some maintenance being done on your site, but each gallery took about 10-15 seconds or more to load. Just thought I'd let you know - it may be a problem at my end but things seems to be fine on other sites.

I tried using Chrome and IE 7 (1280x1024) and both were the same.

All looks good on both laptop and desktop.

Safari 4.05 and Firefox 3.0.19
Slow broadband but your galleries still load quickly

Nice website, fantastic images and no performance problems (galleries took a few seconds to load) in Firefox 3.6.3 on Windows 7. All look grand on my 24" monitor @ 1920x1200 pixels

Pictures look amazing. I'm currently uploading some stuff which slows me down, but the pictures took a little while to load. I would take the "other" stuff off this site and have it on another site. General seems like a rubbish title for some amazing pictures, perhaps fur and feather or animals or charismatic mega fauna or anything else would be better. I think nowadays you can integrate your blog a bit better. Being picky I know but hope it's helpful.

You know my thoughts ,,,,the fox is nice ....

Cracking images as always. Site opened in a second or so, galleries in about 4 seconds on a moderately rapid broadband connection. Navigation quick and easy. I know its a work in progress, so I assume 'general' will become something more beguiling!

Must fix to come and do some dragonflies some time soon.

I use an HP w2448hc at 1920 x 1200.

galleries are loading much quicker now Andy. I timed them at 12 seconds last night on my home broadband which was the same as at work, but this morning seems better. I've no idea why.

Works well Andy, a couple of quick crits on the layout/asthetics:

Portfolio menu is too close to the orange border - would centering the top menu strip make it look more balanced.

Tuition services menu runs over some of the changeing images and the text is lost, I am not sure what to suggest but perhaps a solid background to the menu?

Contact page - I would reduce the image size slightly (and add white border) and then you could move the text and image towards the middle of the page again creating a mor balanced feel.

Overall, a very nice site.
Best

Excellent Andy,

You have some quality images. All works well here on a MAC on Safari and Firefox browsers.
Looking at your STD code you are not a millions miles away. Good to have another "Northerner" on the forum.

Cheers

Thanks again for all that feedback folks - brilliant :toast: :toast:

I've made a few changes as per all your suggestions, especially Andrew Stagg and Ian Butler and now all the scroll boxes and scroll panes will work with a mouse wheel, and I've changed the drop down menus to run horizontally.

Thanks again to everyone who commented or emailed me off board - great job :toast: :toast:
