I just got a Canon 5D Mark II. Am I
going to be able to use my Elements 7
program with it for post-processing
purposes? If not, what level of CS
would you recommend--3,4, 5? Thank
you for your time.

If you're just talking about JPG images from your Mk II, sure, they'll work just fine in Elements 7. But I assume you're talking about ACR. For ACR to work, you need at least version 5.X for the 5DMkII. I'm not sure what version is in Elements 7. (You should be able to find out somewhere inside Elements.)

If it doesn't have that version of ACR, and you can't update it to get it, there are a few options :

1) Download Adobe's DNG converter, convert your files to DNGs, and then use ACR on those.
2) Buy Elements 8 or CS4 or CS5, all of which have ACR recent enough to support the 5DMkII
3) I've heard that it's possible that you could still run 5.X ACR inside Elements, but you have to copy some files into the right place in the Elements installlation directory's. (ACR is just a plug-in for Photoshop, so you can copy it around like any other plug-in.) I'm not sure of the details though. It might be worth some googling.

Robert, yes, download the latest 5.X version of Adobe Camera Raw. Then, with that, you can open your 5d2 Raw images in Photoshop Elements 6, 7 or 8, and also in Photoshop CS4 (CS3 and earlier won't work). I will say that the Elements version of ACR is severely stripped down though... You don't get that wonderful local adjustent brush or the ND Grad filter, the two things that make ACR in CS4 worth it all. If you can swing it, get yourself the best editor for that superb camera you invested in... either Photoshop CS4, or the new CS5. On my work PC, I wanted some sort of editor for my 5D2 files so I bought Elements, and I get frustrated with how limited it is compared to the real Photoshop I have at home.

Just some thoughts!

Thanks all for the advice. I'm going to upgrade to CS4 or CS5.
