The cheeky little...
Posted just for a little light humour. Not quite the next Heineken advert for those old enough to remember, LOL.

Messing around last week photographing the Great Tits frantically feeding the new brood, when I suddenly saw we had an additional visitor!!! I tend to use some of the trees and branches I have cut down from the garden as feeders, this one lost it's plug, but I never really bothered until now to ask why? I knew this feeder was emptying quickly, but had never questioned it!. Therefore, yesterday I thought I would quickly plug it, but the cork was slightly too small, disappearing into the feeder, hence the to two small screws. Having plug it, I then left it, not really thinking. Then towards the later part of the afternoon this happened, I had watched it twice before, so just waited.

Typical, the sky began to get darker, just before the deluge of rain descended, however here are the 'grab' shots taken.

War has now been declared as there are two so, "Hasta la vista, baby" feed for the Little Owls later.

Cute & clever  ... don't feed the owls, the mice are only featherless birds after all! Instead have some fun making them work for their food and make a series of tests for them to figure out... and get some shots of them doing it

Ironic Nick you say that. I fired this off to Dave Courtenay after compiling it and he suggested a similar thing, but on mossey logs

These Wood Mice are great little characters, they'll make an excellent project in their own right (don't feed them to the Owls!). Nice series of images Steve :toast:

Yes, a superb series of shots, it's a persistent little devil and agree with all the above, these would make a fantastic project.

ps - it was really kind of you to put a couple of screws in so it had something to hold on to to pull the cork out with, made life so much easier... :jump:

Tell you what Steve... just one shot of the mouse using a Corkscrew to pull the cork would probably get you WPOTY

DC you crack me up, thank god Alfie isn't here, however it seems that I should wait for a while before setting 'the traps'

Nick, if he/she is seen to be using a corkscrew, could it be deemed they are Captive or just streetwise? One thing I will not do is take a shot of them jumping a field gate at dusk.

Thanks a lot guys the story may continue... :wavey:

Excellent Steve,

A great story and you certainly have an intelligent one on your hands.

Jumping a field gate............well it certainly would make a good Wild Wonder of Europe if they could; if you feed 'em to old twit-twoo then they'll never have a chance to show what they can do Stevo.

Curious; if you do attempt the shot will you do it on a set at your gaff or splash out on a true Spanish location. Personally I'd go for Spain just to retain the true atmosphere - just watch out for wolves

Hello Steve.

Great shot of images and I hope this does continue as I would like to see what you come up with next.

Everybody seems in favour of the mice, I wonder if you would have had the same reaction had you posted a picture of your owls with hungry chicks? Having said that, these are appealing little guys and I would say the results are well worth the loss of a few seeds.
