We are in the process of designing a new members-only gallery intended for the sale of nature photo prints. The concept is that current NPN members will be able to post photos that they are offering for sale as prints. All sales will be handled directly by each member and NPN will not take a cut of any sale - this will be strictly a value-added benefit of NPN membership. We will actively promote the new gallery on the NPN site.
As part of the gallery design process, we are looking for your input on the specific information that should be included with each photo. For example, print size and price are obvious, but what other information should be included with each print?
Bear in mind that any "buy now" link will go back to your own website. Alternatively, we could set up a field for you to include the buy now link HTML to go directly to your shopping cart or PayPal account.
Any suggestions you have for the new gallery are appreciated!
Great concept Jim. I'm still a newbie here, but my "amateur" two cents thinks the link should go directly to our shopping carts--if someone hits a button that says "buy now" and is hot on doing so, I wouldn't want them to have to do any more than enter their payment info on my PayPal. Just a humble opin.!!
For those of us who do not use PayPal (I won't) but do have a merchant account that accepts credit/debit cards, a 'Buy Now' link may need to be provided to you by the photographer.
If a photographer does not have an online payment gateway (I don't), the photographer could provide a link to their site, a contact form on their site, and/or the regular NPN e-mail link.
In addition to providing pricing for various sizes, some ship prints unmatted and/or framed. Some folks will not ship outside CONUS.
A means for the photographer to add their contact info would be helpful.
Will the image display size and file size be the same as the other galleries?
Is a similar idea being planned for PhotoPortfolios.net?
It's an interesting idea, and it will interesting to see how well it works.
Thanks, as always, for your efforts on our behalf!
This sounds like a great idea, but maybe separating the different types of photography. Like having a nature print gallery section for fauna, landscapes, macro, ect... I'm not sure if this is possible, but it might make it easier for potential buyers to find a print they want.
Good idea Jim. I suggest that you dedicate a space "for image" of the last print that has been sold, a counter of how many prints been sold (maybe with price).

What a great idea... I think 750-800 longest side or so should be OK.. I already know of 2-3 prints from some of my fellow NPN'ers that I'd buy!
I would also consider a substantial discount for other NPN members, another value add for being a member.

Jack
