At the end of April I headed down to the Arizona/Utah border for five and a half days. Much of the time the winds were quite fierce and I never did get a good sunrise or sunset but it was still a lot of fun. I spent most of my time in Zion NP working on a project but I also managed to spend some time in Grand Staircase Escalante, Vermilion Cliffs and a morning in Lower Antelope. This is always a nice break from the gallery and I usually plan my trips for the brown/slow periods up here. I find that a few days of solitude and beauty is a good way to get ready for a busy tourist season or to recover from one.
On the link below you will find a selection of images from the trip. Make sure to open them up so that you can see what I was shooting as the thumbnails often don't do them justice. As always, I greatly value your input and suggestions for improvement.
Thanks for sharing these Erik. Faves that stand out for me are "Sandstone Fault", "Antelope's Guardian," "Kinesava Sky" and I really really like "Triangles of Sand." Great unique images from what appears to be a very successful trip.
Holy cow, Erik! You had a heck of a productive trip. What a wonderful series of images.
On Yellow Rock, Antelope's Guardian, Toadstool Twist, and Surreal Buckskin really appeal to me.
You really did justice to the Southwestern landscape with this series.
Glad you made it up to Yellow Rock...that place is fascinating!
My favorite of the series is 'Triangles of Sand'. That image was made for b&w and you did a terrific job of conversion!
Thanks for sharing these with us. Good work, sir!
Many, many excellent images Erik! That toadstool is amazing. I thought the same thing your comment said when I first saw the image. Great work on your abstracts!

Great collection, Erik! Looks like a productive trip, even without sunrises or sunsets. I like the escalante Hoodoos - nice find.
Beautiful work Erik! So many excellent images from the detail shots all the way to the grand scenics. I'd have to say Spring Creation and Surreal Buckskin were my favorites.
I am not a landscape guy, so I have no idea what the names of these palces are Erik, but the collection of work is wonderful.

Erik,
With the twisted hoodoo, I like how you put the sun behind the cap, giving it a nice halo and still with a good exposure. The two of that hoodoo and yellow rock would be my favorites. The flame patterns in the sand were a nice catch.
Thanks for sharing this collection, Erik. Looks like a very productive trip. Spring Creation really jumped out at me. I think it conveys all of the wonderful things about spring in a place like Zion.
