Five male Hares and one 'lucky' female
Another shot from Texel back in Feb.

We watched 8 or so Hare chase one female around over several fields, through wire fences etc all the while really boxing each other about. It was a fantastic sight to see and although they were quite far off and the light was pretty flat I still took a good sequence of images to capture the behaviour. In this particular shot you can see one male mating with the female as a second jumps on to him (that was after trying to mate with the female 'through' the other male, looking like he was actually mating with the male!) and others watch before taking their turn to jump in as and when the opportunity arises. The action was fast and furious and these guys were jumping, boxing and chasing at alarming speeds.

Fantastic to watch, just wish I had better images to show. This is cropped 50% and contrast enhanced as it was very flat and lifeless before.

Really nice atmospheric feel to this, super colours, action and loads of interest. Not so sure if the female hare likes it as much though  If the hares were humans,we would be ringing the police by now!

Interesting behavioural shot Richard. I am not sure that you needed to throw so much away though.

Hi Richard,

The action is great of course but I also like the overall tones in the image. The flat lighting and contrast boost has worked well. I wonder if a stronger pano crop would improve this further.

Cheers
