Dean, this was shot at 149mm with a Canon 70-200 f4 lens, 30 seconds @ f8, iso 200. It is impressively noise-free, although I had some hot pixels that needed to be spotted. I did lighten the rocks just a little bit. I had other shots with the rocks lighter, but then the city lights really blew out, so I figured it was easier to lighten the rocks ever so slightly (and I do mean slightly), than it would be to try to recover blown highlights.
FYI: I'm happy to send anyone on this forum a full resolution tiff file of this shot to look over. It'll have a usage-killing copyright symbol on it, but you'll still be able to see all the detail. Just send me your e-mail address and I can send a link to download the file via sendspace.com. Some of the distant city details are impressive as well. Just put CNM in the subject line of your e-mail so I know what it's about.

So what's on TV? I love the MkII too! I really need to get up into the monument too.
Wow, this is cool! I was really surprised to find out that when I held my mouse over the pic it did not have a guy jumping out and screaming at the me. I'm actually a little disappointed in you for not doing that.
