Denny's Den
I know many of you have seen this little gem of a ruin before. But my trip to it last year was aborted and I was just able to get to it today. Was pretty excited to finally get to see it. I know it goes by many names....but you know...if you take the photo...you get to name it.

Very cool! I like how you framed the image so that all of the surrounding layers of rock act as leading lines. Very nice.

Really like the way the lines draw you into the image. Great detail as well.

Very nice, Rick! Those lines are wonderful. Being a B&W fan, I've done the conversion in my mind and it looks good

Nice shot - liked the details and leading lines as well.

Very nice! The way all the lines seem to radiate from the black window of the ruin makes this a really resonant image. Makes me think about all the world eventually falling into the oblivion of forgotten history, that sort of thing.

Great framing and a prime candidate for a zooming effect, in-camera or in PS if you're into digital manipulation for dramatic effects.

The flow the the rock walls into the ruin is amazing and pleasing to the eye. Nice work Rick.

Very cool! The lines are awesome and the black window has some mystery to it.

Thanks everyone for your positive input. I have to say, usually I am never totally happy with any of my shots...I always feel I could have done them better. This one is the exception.

As others have said, very good use of leading lines. Nice image!

Jim ~ Denny and I had a lot of fun with this site over the course of a few months. Since Hucko named his photo of this ruin "Ray's Granary" after an acquaintance of his......and I knew how much Denny wanted to see this site, I just started calling it Denny's Den. I think that name flows a little smoother. I am sure it will have many other names over the years. That's why I said....each photographer can name their shot whatever they wish to. I think Seventeen Room Ruin outside of Bluff has gone by 5 different names over the years. Nothing really unusual about that with some of these ruins. Could have thought up some "mystical" name....but I still found myself coming back to the name "Denny's Den" Sort of like the name "Big Bob" with that large crane glyph....I know some people question that...but again...Denny use to call it that because he thought of Bob CRANE when we would say "the big crane" so he just started calling it that. I have had some folks tell me they didn't like that name....well, I guess my answer to that is....they can take a shot of it and name it anything they like....not a big deal. Well, I just hope Denny doesn't mind that I named an "OLD RUIN" after him.

Never seen Hucko's image before but he named it after my friend Ray McSavaney. Ray and I took an interest in these ruin sites in the late 80's. You did a wonderful job with it, Rick.

Oooooops......I didn't know it was named after THAT Ray.
