Well, I thought I was pretty sure on some other things (oops!!) so I'm going to ask first, is this a mother Mallard and ducklings?? Mergs and Mallards both hang out here, but that doesn't look anything like a female Merg. Thanks!!! Wish it was still water, but... thanks in advance!!
Yup you got the ID right. The only duck the female mallard could (should) be confused with is the Black Duck hen and the Mottled Duck hen and the Mottled Duck certainly won't be breeding in PA!
Guess I can't be wrong all the time Luke!! ;) Thank you, very cool to see as this is my first duckling season, wish I was a bit closer or had the 500mm on.
