I don't think I have ever seen such detail in one of these. Absolutely stunning. Great BG too. I wonder if I wouldn't try to lose the left hand stem although this may be difficult. That is being really picky though. :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:

I like the way the light is reflecting on the wings Guy, a lovely shot. I wasn't expecting to see these for another week or two.

Congrats Guy; the image has real impact. The composition is spot on and the animal/plant combination compliment each other well. No nits for me.

Cheers,
Chris

First class image, and beautiful contrast with the foliage, may be a name check (Harris 1872)
Banded Demoiselle Calopteryx splendens.

Stewart is partially right about the name, although the reference to Harris, 1872 (actually Harris 1776 according to Hammond) is to the scientific rather than common name. Banded agrion was actually the 'English' or common name assigned to the species by Cynthia Longfield in 1938. Most dragonflies and damselflies did not have common names before this time. The Longfield names are now out of fashion, and most of us refer to this species as Banded Demoiselle.

Lecture in nomenclature now over, it is a lovely shot btw!
