Slow
As I recognized that birds are too fast moving animals for me
I decided to change my photographic targets

7D, EF 300/2,8 + 2x, ISO 500, f8, 1/320, tripod,
no hide no crop,

Great panning Bertl , these are about my speed too.
The subject matter is fine but the highs in the wet floor pull a little . Perhaps a polariser ?
Very humourous text , made me chuckle .

I really like this one, Bertl. Personally I like the highs on the ground, they give emphasis to the wet conditions that presumably brought the snail out in the first place.

Interesting shot Bertl :toast:

Marks covered the nits .

Although on closer inspection I think there is a bit of motion blur, try using a faster shutter speed and a Whimberly MK2 head next time

Simple but effective. Your comments made me laugh!

I would have opted for AI Servo and high speed 10fms per second to capture the action

Great image and unusual :toast: :toast:

Bertl, nice to see something different - I disagree that the highlights need reducing because they contrast the animal nicely and add a freshness to the picture. Spot on for me.

Maybe you could try some motion-blur shot of snails next?

Cheers,
Chris

I also like the simplicity of this Bertl. I've tried in the past to photograph snails and have always found them surprisingly difficult! I like the 'rainy day' feel that this image has.

I wouldn't change a thing. Excellent as it is, IMO.

Bertl, I love this shot just as it is, but when I close my eyes, I can see another even better one with some rain-drops hitting the ground around it. We often talk about under-rated subjects; slugs and snails must be at the top of that list. Great to see someone giving them a go and making such a good job of it too.

Can understand why you needed the 2x on, they can be very difficult to get near too! Something different, made me smile :toast:

With the speed these fellas travel, how many cards did you get through to freeze this unpresidented action, really amazing & great low angle shot with good detail :toast: :toast:

Bertl, are you planning any workshops with these & is a 2X necessary

As Dave said, good to se something different :toast:
