Tawny owl with road kill.

Spotted this at the side of the road,I realise how lucky Ian and I were to see it and have the chance to photograph it.Taken in the Yorkshire Dales and very much a "grab" shot. Slight levels adjust and a small sharpen.

Hi Adrian

Welcome to the forum - very interesting image and highlights the fact that like buzzards etc that Tawny Owls will take carrion. The image is well composed but the contrasty light and complex BG have worked against you in this image.

welcome Adrian, a nice shot to start off with and you did well to spot this Tawny. The light is a bit harsh and a slight shame there wasn't a bit more light on the owl's eye, but still an interesting behavioural shot.

Our options were limited, it was a "Holy Moses, is that what we saw" type of shot, very much grabbed, I would have loved to have spent time farting about with settings, we simply did not have the time.

I know it isn`t perfect and can be knocked about, but I was happy as larry to see one in daylight with prey.............. :smile:

Hi Adrian, personally I think you have captured an amazing image here, irrespective of quality. To have a record shot of what I would say is reasonable quality & under the circumstances is just awesome. Record shot or not, very well taken :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:

now where have I seen this before,welcome frac,oh I mean Adrian :biggrin: Got to agree with Vincent what a great sight to see and get this.Okay the light,background etc could have been better but this has to be a rare sight,so well done for getting it. :toast:

First saw this on you know where and I liked it very much there, so still like it now :)

Agree with all of the above but at the same time, to come away with this must be really pleasing so hats off :toast:

Yeah, I have only ever seen Tawny owls at night, so I was extremely pleased to have got this.

Some kind soul advised on how to process it better now, I have done that and it prints out very nicely.
