ID please - tanager?
I found this bird yesterday at the Baker Wetlands, near Lawrence, KS. It was very cooperative. It could feed on its own, but still exhibited some juvenile behavior like looking skyward and opening its mouth wide. I'm leaning towards a tanager, possible either Scarlet or Summer, as it appears similar to female tanager photos at www.birdsinfocus.com . Thanks in advance.

looks like a female summer to me. the bill is large, the wings don't contrast strongly with the body, and there's a little bit of red in the plumage, which can be expected on eastern females.

I agree with Brian - Summer Tanager. The profile (and bill) in the second image are just right for tanager.
