Bathing Blackcap
Blackcap (female)
May be a record shot to some but I think the female Blackcap is about the most attractive of our migrants. Its certainly one of my favourites. Done at pool 1 (woodland). First time I've had a mid day session for a while.

That's a cracking shot John. The bird really stands out from the water and the catchlight and head turn are spot on. Not too often seen in the open in my experience.

Hello John.

Really like this and the setting is very pleaseing and nice to look at. The detail is excellent and the square composition for me as work well.

John

The colours and detail are spot on, perhaps more mid-day sessions are in order.

Hi John, what a cracker.
I toyed with the idea of moving some off the top, but I like it as it is.

Strange Marcus should write that as I was also wondering if some should be cropped off the top. Still a superb shot of one of my favourite birds.

Superb! Never seen one. I like square.

Seems all together cleaner than some of the other sites you use John and it is better for it in this instance - the neat habitat has a synergy with the clear 'ordered' markings of the bird.
Nice image and good to see a female being featured for a change.

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks all.

Yes - good point ! This pool (although now nearly stopped ) is in part shade and is spring fed - hence the clean water. Trouble is, birds don't seem fussy ! The position of this pool means slow shutter speeds so there's a lot of binned stuff
Cheers
