hi all,

well, i´ve got the computer back, but unfortunately the hard drive was melted in important places, and the four days worth of PS work i had just done on a few gigs worth of images is not recoverable....ironically it was the underwater work that i had not yet quite burned to disk that is lost, and the land stuff that had little work to do i had burned four days before......AAAAGGGHHH

ok well my little dilemma is i lost my raw converter programme, and the disk is back in the uk, does anyone know of any raw converters i can download from the internet? i've got CS2 now which i understood has a raw converter, but for the life of me i cant find out how to do it...and even then is it just one image at a time or can i batch convert them? any prompt advice will be most appreciated.

best regards,

mark.

Hi Mark

With PS CS2 just double click on your raw file and it should open automatically in the raw converter. If it doesn't go to Adobe.com look for downloads then download the latest raw plugin which should cover your camera. Instructions for installing it are easy to follow and on the site!

Hi Mark,

Give Nigel's download of RSE a go. It's an easy programme to use (hell, even I manage to use it  ) .

hi guys,

thanks for all the help, i did try the RSE download but it doesnt seem to support S2pro RAW files, time i got round to affording that D2x i guess!!!, so i went to adobe.com and downloaded the raw plug in and now the raw converter works in my PS CSII, but hell it looks complicated......something else for me to spend hours trying to learn.......

thanks to all that replied.....best regards,

mark.

Hi Mark, Have tried both RSE & cs2,have to say i prefer the former. Saying that though, CS2 is easy aswell. Just remember that CS2 raw opens automatically when a raw file is selected. Go through the usual adjustments & then open in CS2 to do your fine tuning if needed.
Even i managed it! :jump:

for anyone who's further interested in ths raw conversion discussion, i've just gone through my first batch of underwater images last night and have to say working with CS2 is a dream. i cant obviously compare it with RSE as it wouldnt work with my camera, but having gone through this forced change of raw programme, i am wondering why it took me so long to change to a far superior method and has opened my eyes somewhat. i even had some files that i can teken on land and forgot to change my white balance from underwater use. needless to say they were somewhat pink! i was amazed to see how the white balance options coped with these images, and instantly corrected files i had been messing about with in channels to no avail.
