Looking for help here.
I somehow accidentally changed the grey background in CS4 to black. I don't know how to restore the grey. Someone told me to toggle by touching the "F" key. I tried that, but in that version the grey is much lighter, and the image is not only off-center, when I use the Fit to Screen command, it more than fills the screen.
Right click on the background and you'll be offered a choice between 'Gray', 'Black', 'Custom' and 'Select Custom Color'. Try the gray first to see if you get a different shade. If that doesn't work, choose your own in the 'Select...' dialog.
Here are some RGB numbers for three different shades of gray you can try if you have trouble 'picking' a correct gray:
Thanks so much, John. That's exactly what I needed to know. I mighta known you'd come up with the answer.
By the way, I'm hoping to get together with you and Bozzzzz in July. It depends on whether there are any crises at work because I'm going to be gone for 2 weeks in the Canadian Rockies starting this Saturday. Gonna spend 5 days with Darwin Wiggett in Jasper and Banff NPs.
Howard - In a real pinch, you can also hold down Ctrl-Alt-Shift as you start Photoshop, and it will ask if you want to delete all settings. You'll lose ALL of your custom settings in the preferences dialogs (but you won't lose plug-ins or anything like that). But it would get you back to a known good set of settings. This can fix a lot of issues with PS at times.

Is there another solution?
