Siskin
1D2n, 600mm f4, 25mm extension tube, 1/400s, f8, iso 400.

Taken this evening in sunshine. Hadn't noticed the parasite by the eye - not sure whether to clone it out.

Personally I'd leave the parasite in.

I like the shot overall but the dominance of the top pine cone is a little strong. Also the crop feels a little tight against the bird. Shifting the whole image to the right and having more canvas on the left would make the image feel like it was more about the bird - at the moment my eye is drawn to-and-fro between the siskin and cones. Overall, pleasant enough though.

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks Chris

That's what I kind of feared too. I sat for ages waiting for one to land exactly where I wanted - more to the right. Had to settle for this today - I'll have another go though.

Lovely picture Ian. Whilst the cones do take attention away from the bird I like the overall balance of the picture and shows it in its environment which I think adds to the overall picture. Great colour in the background finishes it off well.

Nice clean background, and well captured.

I do find my eye being drawn to the Cones, they are a little too dominant for me.

I'd leave the parasite (a tick?) in as well. Otherwise, a fine shot with nits already covered.

A very nice image Ian, and personally I don't have a problem with the parasite or cones. The paraite was there long before the image was taken, and the cones add some colour to an image that could possibly have looked a little bland without. It is all down to personal preference at the end of the day.

Very nice work.

I agree with Fran on this one, I like the colours in this picture, and i would leave the parasite.
Although i suppose it depends what you would like todo with the image. perhaps if you were going to use a print,i would remove the parasite.

Very nice image tho..
