Flint Hills Sunset
Got this shot Sunday evening south of Alma on a tour of some pasture land there. That area is quickly becoming my favorite to shoot in. This was a 4 shot blend, put together using Photomatix, but not in the "HDR" mode, but in "exposure fusion" mode. This mode does a better job, IMO, of producing more natural looking results. I would have liked to included some flowers in the foreground, but the wind was blowing so I had to select a rock for my foreground object. Figured that wasn't going to move in the wind and if it did I had bigger things to worry about than photography!

Real nice, Scott. I can't say that I feel like I'm there but I wish that I was. We have had some wind again haven't we?

Great stuff Scott. The limestone's make a great lead from foreground to sunset

Beautiful color, and balanced composition, Scott. I've always liked the inclusion of rocks in images of the Flint Hills, and these are dandies. Nice work.

Great shot, and you did a very good job on the blending! I really like the composition (especially the rock in the FG), and the starburst is a nice touch. Yeah, those flowers were sure blowing around this weekend. We fought the wind at Wilson Lake on Sat. and barely survived. I was out & about Alma on Sun. afternoon - surprised I didn't run into you somewhere.

Thanks everyone! I was exceptionally blessed to be out where I was with light like this.

Wonderful image Scott. The blending method worked well; my photography instincts keep telling me it's not possible to produce an image like this.. but I'm staring at a photo that proves otherwise.
