Hood Canal Heron
I recently visited a friend who lives in Union on Hood Canal. There was a -3.0 low tide. Lots of herons (most out quite far). This one knew how to catch the big ones. It was able, with some difficulty, to swallow its lunch whole. I cropped the image a bit because I was using a 70-200 at 200 and sharpened it some, because hand held.

That's a big lunch. Nice catch, Jim.

Very nice image Jim. I can't believe the heron ate that fish whole!

Excellent capture and what a catch. Nice job being at the right place and time.

Yeah, I'd call that a banquet! How long was the heron immobilized with the catch descending its long, skinny neck?
