One more bluethroat
Sorry, can't help it. Kingfisher project is not working out so well. So I've spend another evening at my bluethroat spot. Not a bad choice afterall.

iso 200 1/160 sec. f/8 full frame Nikon D3

Excellent setting and framing for the bird and a great contrast between the bluethroat and the blossom.

Good stuff Edwin.
Not sure if its wind but the leaves showing the undersides seem to be hanging strangely.
No big deal though.

Works very well for me although I find myself asking if I'd leave in the flowers on the LHS.. Still undecided since I think it's a great image either way.

I think you should concentrate on bluethroats and forget the kingfishers.

Take a few of these twigs to Norway Ed - see if you can get Mauritzio perched on one - he'd look lovely

Such a pretty little bird and so well imaged Ed as always. :toast:

In my view this is a rather poor shot given that you have controlled the bird's environment. The hawthorn is wilting and as John eludes to above, looks distressed. You have also neglected to clone out the branch scar where you created the perching spot for the subject. I would also re-think the orientation of the perch so that you can get a better angle on the subject.

Hi Edwin,

I think I prefer your previous shots of this bird. I agree with the nits about the perch, but its still a beaut! I would also stick with the Bluethroats!

Cheers,

Lewis.

Beautifully composed Edwin, but I have to agree that the perch looks like it is on the wane. Sod's law being what it is subjects have a habit of arriving later than is ideal, but I have found with some types of live perches, putting the raw end into a jar of water will make them last longer. Fantastic subject which I wouldn't mind having over here, that's for sure.
