This is from Magee Marsh a weekend or so ago on the nature trails around the bird center. I have a number of close-up of this little guy, who was kind enough to pose for a couple of minutes, but I liked this distant shot and how the lines of the branches mirrored the lines of the warbler's beak. I wish I could say I composed the shot with that in mind, but sometimes you just see things afterward (or maybe I'm just reading way too much into it). I may work on blurring or removing the out of focus branch behind his tail. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
I, personally am not a hater of environment shots, if I was, I wouldn't keep anything!
I think there's too much space in this shot, perhaps a "leafier" bg. I'd be tempted to try a vertical crop with the bird 'warbling' up the twig in front. Looks crisp, I'd like to see the close-ups.
I have no quarrel with environment shots either, there's simply6 a bit too much here for my taste, My inclination would be to crop inside the two largest branches--which I find a bit incongruous anyway--omitting them entirely. That still leaves you with ample environmental context, but puts more focus on the bird. YMMV, of course.
