Duke of Burgundy
Quite a rarity in this country I believe with only around 20 sites in this country and very low in numbers at those sites. Phil and I were chuffed to be shown one of them on the weekend. We were very surprised at their size too, a little smaller than the common blues.

A shame about the shrivelled leaf at the bottom but....

40D, 300mm, f14,ISO 400, 1/20.

I've always found butterflies to be difficult subjects Fran. They look beautiful from every angle to the naked eye and as soon as you try to photograph them DoF becomes a real pain. You've made a good job of catching this and considering that one wing was always going to be Oof you have got it as good as you could have. I didn't realise they were so small either.

Nicely captured Fran. If its smaller than a common blue you have done very well here. You are very lucky. I have never seen one before. :wavey:

Nice... not very easy to photograph, they only appear like magic when the sun shines and there are so few of them that getting the 'perfect' image is nigh on impossible... this is closer and better than any I got... xx

I agree, not an easy species to photograph. I think I would like to see it a little smaller within the frame.

Nice one Fran - I took a few images of this species on Salisbury Plain last week-end.

Hi Fran,

Really well taken under the circumstances, a great species to have!

Cheers,
