Took this photo over the long weekend at Presqu'ile Provincial Park in Brighton, Ontario. I know it's a youngster, but a young what. I saw it hanging around with the Song Sparrows, so I right away came to the conclusion that it is a baby Song Sparrow, but after checking other photos of juvies online I'm not so sure. I showed the photo to a birder that I bumped into there, but he wasn't too sure. Later when I met him for the 2nd time, he said it was in fact a young song sparrow. I am still not sure though.
Richard, I'd say it looks more like that than a Sparrow, and knowing that Cowbirds dump their eggs in other birds' nests would probably explain why it was hanging around with the Sparrows.
