I went out toward DIA to see if I could catch some twister action. This one kept trying to birth but never quite made it. I know this isn't a wall hanger, just wanted to share the experience.
I looked behind me and the sky over downtown looked interesting so I went over by an old barbed wire fence and set up my tripod to shoot. I had everything in place when, hoy cow, a rattlesnake came out of nowhere and went right up to the tripod. I took one huge leap backward and had to wait for him to stop rattling and settle down. It took me 15 minutes to get up the nerve to retrieve my camera. A word of warning guys and gals, the snakes love the tall grass!!
No downtown shot today.
PS: Todd, that extra pair of shorts would have come in handy today!!
Cool! Looks a bit detatched from the storm. Wish i could have joined you, but i was stuck putting out storm warnings! Ill post some distant shots of the big hailstorm east of Springs tomorrow.

This is the first time I've run into a rattlesnake while shooting and it really surprised me even though I know they are out there. I try to watch where I'm going but this thing must have been well concealed. I need to check into those gaitor things if I'm gonna be in the tall grass I guess.
Scary about the snake (and the funnel cloud). I read about the tornado warnings and the people at DIA having to go to the bathrooms/tornado shelters yesterday. This certainly helps illustrate the story.

Ha, I just noticed that airliner in the photo - presumably quite a few soiled underpants from those seated on the port side...
