Chautauqua Wildflowers
A quick process from this morning...

Wildflower conditions are pretty nice right now at Chautauqua Park, in Boulder. There aren't carpets of flowers like I've seen in past years, but there are some really nice pockets of blooms. The Wild Iris is better than I've seen it in the past few years. There are nice spans of Golden Banner. The Arnica and Lupine are starting to pop and there are sparse Bluebell and Larkspur. Enjoy!

Indeed thanks for the update Scott. I've also found that the days around Memorial Day are consistently a good time to check for flowers around this location. Nice to see there are some options here this year.

Nice shot; like the composition including color contrast and balance.

Thanks for the update Scott,
Which trail did you take to get up that way?
I have not been up to Chautauqua in many years, I was thinking about heading up there and or Mt Evans since my original plans for memorial day wknd fell through.

Kurt, This right off the main Bluebell/Mesa Trail that heads straight towards the flatirons from the parking lot.

Nice, dude! Looks like spring is finally on the way to the mountains, huh? I dig how the iris stand out so nicely from the green grass. Good stuff.

Nice take on the iris, Scott. I was up there this week and it seemed that there's more to bloom. Did you get that feeling?
Posted by Scott Bacon on May 27, 2010 at 5:43 PM
Yes, definitely. Especially the Lupines.

Terrific comp, Scott--a real classic! :toast:

This is real pretty. The wild iris in the foreground really make this one special.

A most excellent shot! Those irises are great.

Nice work Scott. The iris in the FG really blend nicely with the flatirons in the BG and the comp is really well balanced.

Did you use one of your T/S lenses for this?

This is pretty, Scott. I really like the comp, but what I'm finding most appealing are the trees just starting to leaf out. Thanks for the update.

Jim - Yes, this was shot with the Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5 L II.
