All in a Day's Work
Managed to fire off a few shots of the hailstorm east of Colorado Springs last night at sunset. This is looking north from the Pueblo airport. Storm went on to drop some ping-pong ball hail on Falcon before dying a slow death near Ellicott.

This is looking east at the rising moon,

One more of the growing supercell thunderstorm to the north. Moral of the story: always bring your telephoto to work with you.

Really, really like the moon shot. The anvil clouds are impressive too.

Exactly what Joshua said!

All of those are truly worthy of only a weatherman photog! Gorgeous!

I like #3 in that there is a sense of scale due to the trees, the sunlit color deep in the curl, and that the cell looks like it is going to break over like a crashing wave at the beach.

Holy Toledo! These are all great, Stan. That moon shot is a mind-blower!

These are great, I totally agree with Doug.

The view of this cell from Divide was awesome. The lightning was just kicking in when I got home around 9pm. Alas, too tired to dig out the camera. Got some moonrise shots tonight though. Maybe something will turn out.

Nice series, Stan. That moon shot is impressive. I love the lighting in #3. Have you ever experienced hail damage to your vehicle when you're out storm chasing?

Very nice! The clouds in #2 are really cool.

Thanks, folks!
Paul: Numerous times, my Jeep was full of dents and I've also destroyed several rental cars (always get the damage waiver  ) A few broken windshileds from baseball size hail.

These are all great Stan. Well done.

Stan, those are all very cool. I like to watch thunderclouds - when they're headed the other direction from me! My fave is the third because of the warm glow.

Incredible images! Love the way the moon seems to be drifting behind the clouds in the second image.

The colors in that moon shot are amazing!
