Bristlecone
Once again, please forgive the icon. This is an image from a trip last fall to the Schuman Grove. I was using a Blue/gold polarizer. I also used Topaz in postprocessing. All comments welcome. Best Regards.

Michael, one could hardly tire on subject matter such as these old trees. The image shows the massive twists. grooves, grain, and texture throughout. The darkening sky can be a bit of the polarization, as well as the altitude up there. Any images I've ever taken there the sky was almost black at times. The comp could be subjective with showing the entire tree, or even in much tighter too. All seem to work OK on these beasts.

Michael,

I really like this. I like the comp because it's obvious that you only wanted to include a portion of the tree and not the whole thing. At least for me, my thought has always been that I think cut off things work well as long as it's obvious and intentional. Once you get to the "oops" stage that just means someone isn't paying attention.

Also, this sure looks like the perfect situation for the B/G filter and I think worked nicely. The presence of the clouds is really important too. Processing looks great btw.

Oh, I like it.. those Bristlecones allow for many different comps... I also like the DOF on this shot..
