And a b&w version.

As usual, I would be grateful for any advice...thanks!

It is so organic and not as much about lines and form so COLOR for me! You made something simple completely remarkable!!! Phenomenal shot.
Is the title, "Hand Pict?" Oh man, I crack myself up!

John, really cool shot. I would also have to say the color version is more to my liking. I would almost be interested to see what a tighter crop would look like with this shot. The section on the bottom right has so much interesting color and texture that it might not hurt to lose a bit from the top left to pull more focus on that. Great shot though!

I gotta go with "BEWARE!" Also gotta go with color. Once again, your perfection of composition is just astounding. Nothing seems out of place, but even more, nothing is predictable. Your light work is amazing, too.

WOW

I'm usually the Black & White type, but the color version rocks!

I dunno, but it looks pretty spook y so ill go with 'beware!' At least theres not the just the middle finger showing...
Definitely the color version, John. The quality of your posts just keeps going up--good luck sustaining the pace!

This is phenomenal, John! Definitely color for me as well. The composition is wonderful and I love the overall contrast.

John, I love this shot period, but not so sold on the color being the best. They seem and feel different to me. The color said greetings to me, but the B&W said beware. I think depending on the modd oyu want, you pick color or B&W, but I am a huge B&W fan.....especially of late for some reason.

John, the color version works for me, too. Looks like you've been exploring the canyon to see what else is there besides the Flaming House.

John.... color version rocks!!! 'Beware' is a good one I think... you composed it so well... :toast:

Color, definitely. John, you sure find some interesting places....

I like it alot! Great texture on the rocks.

John,
An interesting combination of flat surfaces, curves, edges and circles. I am preferring the color version. Interesting how the area around the hand is lighter than the rest of the slab. I might consider croppping off the top 15% as the dark ULC draws my attention away from the hand. Nice find.

Thanks for the kind words and the suggestions...I really appreciate it!!
Cropping about an inch from the top is a good idea that I'll definitely look into.

Thanks again!

John, Your images frequently contain that element of mystry which leaves the viewer to create stories in his own mind. This always makes them so damn interesting and beyond a mere representation....great work as usual. Joe Rogers

Wonderful image John, really like the tones of the rock and how they go from dark in the ULC to bright where the hand is, to highlight it. For that reason I like the color version better, the colors have that extra nuance the B&W doesn't for me anyway.

John, the color version is really outstanding. The color makes me explore the textures of the background a little more. Really nice composition.

I really like this, John. I'm normally inclined toward B&W, but the color version works better for me here. I also find this more comfortable to look at with a bit of a crop from the top. Great find.

Hmm, "Beware of "false" greetings?"

Although I'm partial to B&W, I prefer the color version; it retains more detail.

I like the color shot, and will vote for "greetings" . Well done, John.

I'm usually a B&W man but the color version really does it for me. I would darken up the hand spot a little to make it stand out more.
