Palouse barn
Scouted the Palouse area with Jesse Speer today and found this barn. Weather has been sucky (rainy, cloudy, and cold with occasional sleet), but today we had some good clouds and some brief sunny periods. Not really sure what I'll do with this shot, but I like it a lot. Thanks for looking!

Cool! I love the white fence in the fg leading over the little hill. I might crop the distant horizon out. Ive got to get out there some day.

I love that area...check out Chip Phillips website if you are still there for more potential shots. This one is great! I do agree with Stan about cropping out the distant horizon...just show the hills and bard and you've got a real winner here!

I like it too, agree about the horizon.

I like the comp a lot, but agree with the crop. The curving fence is wonderful. Extra nice shot!

A truly elegant capture! Definitely a keeper.
The muted light was your friend on this day. The crop idea is a good one, though I could go both ways. Hope you have more from this area to post here in the future!

Very pretty, Amy! I'd call it a composition of colors. The lines are amost mezmerizing.

Very peaceful scene, Amy. Seems like there are endless possibilities out there. I agree that simplifying down to the hills and barn would work well here. And the barn seems a little close to the right edge, but that may just be my preference. Still a beauty as it is. Good work!

The red barn and undulating white fenceline are really nice features to the hills. A keeper.
If your original allows, maybe just a little added to the right of the barn, crop the horizon, and a slight CW rotation for the vertical white lines on the barn.

Nicely composed indeed! I like the green colors of the hills, they go well with the red barn. I could go either way with the sky: as it is it gives the scene some scale, cropping would probably put more emphasis on the hills and make this a more "graphic" presentation. It's a problem I wouldn't mind having with a nice shot like this.

I also wish there was more real estate to the right of the barn, but that's minor. It's a really nice shot.

Thanks all! The only problem with the area to the right of the barn was a telephone pole and some vehicles. I thought about cropping the top (and may still do so), but i really liked the blues and purples of the distant horizon. I will crop over the weekend and repost. Waiting for my plane at the Portland airport. As soon as I left the Palouse the sun started coming out for Jesse. Go figure!

Beautiful Amy. I think this could work either way, with or without the sky. If you do include the sky I would like to see more of it if possible. The lines in the image are a great contribution to the overall look of the photo. Very well seen.

Amy- Great job. I love the depth of perspective provided by the line of the fence and the layers of hills behind it. And the red barn adds a nice splash of contrast to the green. I'm headed to the Palouse in two weeks and I hope to find some good scenes like this.

Wonderful, Amy! The fence and the lines formed by the hills really make this. I agree about losing the sky, but it doesn't really detract for me. One crop I kinda like is just below the large group of trees on the right, making this into a pano.
