I'm having KF withdrawal symptoms at the moment. This image was taken about six/seven weeks ago when I discovered a pair by a small brook close to my home. However, after seeing them mated and settling in a nest, I decided to stay away to avoid disturbing them.

Anyway I went back to the site the last couple of days but all signs are they've moved on. So now I have the shakes. If anyone out there that's willing to help a KF junky, drop me an email. It will be most appreciated.

D700, 500mm, f6.3, ISO800, 1/250s. BG is of the water with reflections. Taken early April morning.

I know the feeling Des - have been away up to the very north over the past week, and can't wait to get back to see how my local KF's are doing.

Beautiful colours here and this really jumps out at you. I can't decide though - the eye is tack sharp, but the tail seems to have dropped off ? That's a very very minor nit though :wavey: :wavey:

Love the deep colours, well composed and complimentary background. Great image.

Looks good to me Des.
Maybe a little gamma off would help - the white cheek patch is a bit blown.
Great shot though in these days of kingfisher mania
Cheers

Stunning colours, and a nice BG. The comp is great, and the perch is not overpowering!

Nice one Des

I know the feeling, just when you think you've cracked it, the little beggars usually clear off in my experience
