Got some more shots of my favorite mountain this morning. Here's a shot of the moon setting behind the summit. The original has enough detail to make out people on the viewing platform, had there been any at this early hour. And that's with the less-than-perfect 100-400 lens.

I also came across a disturbing trend. Keep reading.

Here's a quick alpenglow sunrise shot before I get to my main point, which is...

Keep reading what? Lots of detail in this photo!

...apparently you can no longer legally take pictures along this stretch of Rampart Range Road. Have you ever seen something so ridiculous? What's next? Will national parks become off-limits to all but the tripodless? This kind of discrimination has no place in our great country!

Im surprised that sign isnt riddled with holes--must be real new!

Hey, i think the real war on photographers is in that first shot--that ugly summit building messing up the nice view of the moon and peak. If you're gonna build a concession stand for screaming kids and hapless tourists on top of 'America's mountain', youd think you could at least get a decent architect to make it half-way aesthetic. Although some of the pics inside are awfully pretty

I'm sorry, Todd, but I'm going to have to forward your "shot" to the No Shooting Police as proot that you did, in fact, "shoot" in this no shooting zone. Shoot, this didn't turn out as funny as I thought it would.
Both shots are beautiful, but that huge moon shot is fantastic! I like the way the rocks curve toward the moon. Excellent comp.

I love the big moon shot, Todd. I like your joke. Funny. I am amazed the sign hasn't been blown to bits yet.

Photography is not a crime

I have hundreds of stickers that say just this, if anyone wants one email me...

Do photo vests come in a bullet proof version? I built a kevlar kayak once that was bulletproof, wish I had saved some kevlar for my photo vest.
