Another image from the Ladybug Trail in Sequoia National Park.
The man on the trail is Robert Adriaansen, a fellow photographer that I shoot with regularly.
Michael, you've mellowed out the contrast nicely here, which really captures the dappled effect in the scene. Overall, I liked the composition of the image in your last post from Ladybug Trail somewhat better, with the more contiguous trial leading your eye through the scene. I assume you used the same processing in Photoshop here---reducing the clarity slider? I've tried this on wildflower scenes but didn't care for the results. However, on this type of scene, with all the complex shadows, I truly think it works very well, without causing the blurred edges produced by the classic Orton effect. I need to try that on some of my under story shots!
One nit, my eye is drawn to the bright spot at the bottom of the image just left of center. You might try toning that down a bit,
Very nice, Michael. This suggests concepts such as "journey"
or "destination". A picture like this would be well received by a
stock agency, particularly with a model in it. Wearing a red shirt
helps to make your friend stand out on the trail.
