Pygmy owl
I returned a few weeks ago from a 1 week winter trip to Northern Finland .We received a call that a Pygmy owl had taken up residence in a garden, near a bird feeder where it tried to catch voles that were eating seeds fallen from the birdtable.

After an hours drive, we ended up in the middle op no where, where we did find this owl.

now this is a wildlife shot :) Slightly aware of a vertical not being correct as the owl seems to be leaning

Nice one Rene. Might consider losing the trunk altogether as it is such an ethereal shot, almost surreal. what a beautiful bird and great light.

Thanks Peter, i have images of the owl without the trunk but i prefer these ones as i think the trunk adds to the habitat of this tiny owl, Its as large as a sparrow.

It's alright I suppose.
Still a man with more money than sense has to have something as a reward for freezing his ass off

Good to see you post again and another excellent image. The shot definately needs the trunk, not only does it add to the habitat but it anchors the composition.

Perhaps I little more contrast to really make it "pop".

Well here is no. 19. Absolutely great photo, Rene. I like how it's illuminated by the snow. I just 2 days ago so one of these for the first time myself - such an interesting bird! :toast:
