With all the interesting weather last week, I couldn't help but take a mini trip out to the paint mines near Calhan. Never been there before, and my back road "short cuts" seemed to just slow me down -not to mention the nightmare of just trying to get out of Denver. Got there with about 20 mins before actual sunset, which meant I had to pick a trail (eeny meeny miny moe) and book it fast. Don't know that I represent it here, but the conditions were amazing. The hillsides around the mines were lush and vibrant green with many patches of Golden Banner and some other flowers coming in. Cool place, I'd love to get back soon with a little more time. C&C always appreciated.
Thanks for the feedback. Ken, I'd love to post more pics, but didn't get much due to the fleeting light. I did get a chance to scout the areas deeper in the "canyon", so hopefully next time I get more shots I'd feel comfortable posting. From what I did see, it does seem like a challenging place to shoot, so I feel lucky to get what I did and fortunate that the light helped narrow down my choices. Hopefully I get back soon, and def worth the drive...

Real nice job of 'development', as well.
