Tufty in summer coat .
I was surprised too. I didn't expect tufts and the thick ovecoat to be left .
Just returned from 3 days on these little fellas . An early start and early return meant I was back in for breaky whilst on holiday .
Numbers in the area in the North of England were very healthy and according to the locals have been for the last 2 years . 'Feed stations' were set up but the images captured were away from the throng .By day two the squiggers prefered the more sofisticated offering than the locals were or were not providing. Thanks to the gaffer in the boozer for the tip off.

Lovely image Mark and the face detail is super. I do find the fg slightly odd though ? Might be my screen though

Lovely image Mark, but as said the FG does look a little strange

hi Mark, all works for me, great composition, super sharp, BG, exposure all spot on. the FG, looks like out of focus ferns to me. am i correct. would be even better if the FG was a bit more mushy.

Hi Mark agree with comments thus far and would adjust the green balance a little to give the squirrel a little more redness but otherwise works well for me.

I like this one Mark, the foreground looks ok at this end and you've captured a nice pose. The northern English Reds are certainly doing very well and are expanding their ranges significantly. Trouble is some are pushing very close to areas where greys are resident so I hope the pox doesn't become a problem.

You did well to find one with a nice coat and good tufts, I've just set up a new feeding station for these fella's and the ones I was watching yesterday looked a bit manky due to being mid-moult! :toast:

Superb composition, but I do echo Brett's opinion about the greens.

A very nice image Mark. Foreground not a problem for me and I particularly like the positioning of the squirrel in relation to the oof fern in the background as it all seems to help focus my attention the way the squirrel is looking.

Good composition on a lovely portrait. My only nit would be to have less of the OOF mossy mound on the left.

Good to hear they are doing well "Up North".
Subject is very sharp for 1/50th Mark. Well held.

Cheers

Nice shot and composition. Not overly sure about the greens in the middle background - they look like they are shifting (colour shifting) with some funny pixelation.

Think I prefer this one mark to the recent one. Comp & fern work well, with a nice selection of 'mush' in the FG. Colour looks good to me. Bet you are getting calls again to join you on this one too.
