OT- Let’s not forget
that today is not really about barbeque's. I'm one who has been guilty in the past of forgetting what today really is about. In fact this morning I went to shoot a sunrise elsewhere but there were no clouds and the wind was howling where I had planned to shoot. Then on the way back home, I remembered the show we watched on t.v. last night. There was nothing on, so we settled on the PBS Memorial Day tribute. Once again, I'm not one who typically allows himself to get tied up in something that gets so emotional. But I did. It was heart wrenching of course, and one element of the show was to focus on the widows and orphans. Brutal. So, I went to Ft. Logan. There are more than vets buried here, as their families can also be laid to rest here. Fitting to me, after last night's show. They were the ones who had to wait and wonder every day about the ones they loved. But most are veterans who served so I can have my barbeque. I'm glad I watched the show and that I ended up here. It was good for me.

Comments welcome, but I don't feel critiques would be appropriate as this is only a tribute to those who have and are serving.

Thanks,

Morris

Something that is easy for myself and others to take for granted. Thanks for posting these Morris.

Morris- I watched the same tribute and thought it was very well done. We take so much for granted these days. I give you credit for going to the cemetery and reflecting your feelings from last nite's tribute.

Those are awesome images Morris! I do take a moment or two on this day to thank those who died for our freedom. My grandfather was a bombadier in the Pacific in WW2, and fortunately did not pay the ultimate price, and I am grateful to have the flag from his funeral displayed proudly in our living room. Capt. Ralph E. Daugherty (1918-1999), THANK YOU my good man!

Great reminder Morris. I watched some of that last night as well. We need to honor those who died and be grateful for what we have in this country. That is what they died for.

Indeed! Thank goodness we have men and women willing to put themselves in the line of fire, both literally and figuratively, for the uniquely amazing freedoms that America bestows upon its citizens from birth.

Pssst! These photos rock, esp. #3.

Thank you for the reminder, Morris. These images are a beautiful tribute to the men and women who bravely serve so that we may enjoy our freedoms. God bless 'em all, their families and friends for the sacrifices they make day in and day out.
