I think this photo might be improved with a slight warming of the white balance. It has a bluish cast (at least on my monitor).

Hi Kathryn, I agree with Bob that it looks a tad cool. I would also consider boosting the contrast some. I like the comp and parallel lines of the hills and the vegetation. I think it works, with the minor changes mentioned. Looking forward to seeing more.

Kathryn, I'm liking your John Day area images. The early a.m. light here is delicious. Gosh, I have no reference as to the color or warming it, as mentioned above, because I've never been there. But if you corrected the white and black points, and then adjusted the image color balance for the way it appeared to you when you were there, then that's great. It probably isn't called Blue Basin for nothing?

Great area that looks like it has some good photo ops. I'm gonna say that the tonality is a tad on the flat side due to your lighting. I think if you adjusted the levels, did some dodging and burning here and there...then converted it to black and white...then cropped the bottom dirt off of the photo...this would work quite well as a print. That's my humble opinion...

This is great! I love all this input. This gives me a lot of information to go on. I may submit a shot from later in the morning to get the better light. I can also work on this in PS a bit more too. Thanks.

Looks like a beautiful place Kathryn. I don't have much to add that hasn't already been addressed.
