its a killer to expose correctly and still retain detail on the birds. would like C&C on this

I really like what you've tried here - similar to what Steve posted yesterday, but as the sun was lower, you've got more light through the beak(s).

The chest on the rh bird is rather hot, but that should be fixable - otherwise, nice BG and good to see something different :toast: :toast:

nice lighting and the interaction between the birds is great Mark, although I think I'd like to see the whole birds in frame. Cutting the birds off halfway doesn't quite look right to me, but that may be a personal thing.

Totally agree with Matt & Keith regarding the crop, however if this is FF then a tighter crop would work far better, avoiding the blown whites on the chest and would emphasis the head & beak. I think you need to look at the image as there is no real 'blacks' leaving the image rather flat, would suggest revisiting the file using Curves and a slight boost of saturation. The image does look soft with little detail both in the feathers/head, so another round of selective sharpening would help.

Would also have gone to f/4 increasing your SS a fraction.

I think cropping this closer would make it stronger or indeed showing more of the birds.
Love the backlit effect though.

I like the light through the beak, do tend to agree it does look a little soft and the crop could be stronger.

Hi thanks for all the feedback, I have redone the PP and cropped to make the image stronger, this is also the second image in the sequence.

thanks again and more C&C welcome
