You might have seen my Otter pic from yesterday - thanks to all who made suggestions.
Now, this is a shot I was not expecting to get !
This was taken earlier than the one I posted yesterday. The Otter was fishing and making his way back to rocks about 15 yards from the spot I made my way too.
He then surfaced right in front of me, and climbed up to eat his catch (a crab - that's the back in his mouth). I only got one shot before he noticed something wasn't right, and this was it.
In my panic, I screwed the camera settings, but at least I got something....
You weren't very lucky with the sky when you were shooting these animals and I'm guessing that a higher viewpoint so that you could take the sky out of the image wasn't possible. Given that, you've done well to get these images, though a bit more depth of field in this shot would have been useful. You might try combining an under exposed variant of this shot with the standard exposure to see is you can make more of the sky.
Good weather and Shetland are not the best of bedmates Given the conditions and the shock of seeing one so close you've done exceptionally well. Just being so close is an experience
