Devils Tower NM - Wyoming
The wife and I took a trip to the Black Hills area of South Dakota for Memorial Day weekend. On the drive up we swung by Devils Tower. We hadn't been here since we took a summer road trip one year during college. It was good to finally, finally get out and take some pics since last Novemeber. I think during that lull, I seem to have gone backwards in my photographic skills. Every image I brought back seemed rather mundane to me. Maybe I'm my own worst critic.

I like the comp here, the main big foreground boulder setting the precident for the rest of the field to the defined lines in the tower. Luckily you got some clouds.
Nothing mundane about the composition and those nice clouds.
Even the light isn't bad considering the time of day you took this one.
However, I would strongly urge you to consider a b&w conversion. With the right steps taken in the conversion process, this could be anything but mundane!
Hehe, great title! Really cool shot. I agree with John that a b&w conversion would probably look pretty darned awesome. Red or yellow filter would probably do the trick.
Yep, this is begging for conversion to b&w. This could be over the top awesome in monochrome. Fantastic composition, Doug. Wonder where all those FG rocks came from?
I really like the comp, but the colors don't appeal to me. As for why, I can't put my finger on it. So, I guess I will join the crowd about a conversion.

Very nice perspective composition here. Look forward to the repost with the B&W.
