Fallow Deer Portrait
20D 400/2.8, ISO200, 1/500 @ f4.5, Gitzo + BH1, C1pro + CS2

Hi,

Weather was forcast to be not so good for the weekend here in the south east so I drove down to see my Fallow Deer herd

They are now tolerating me being there and a couple of the bucks are starting to venture close, for this portrait of one of the sub-dominant males I was almost overgunned and had to make a decision on the composition, whether to try and include the complete headwear or not, in the end I decided that the hint of their size was enough that I could crop into them.

Image is full width of the frame with just a crop to my usual A4 proportions.

All the best

Beautiful Phil. Might clone out grasses bottom left. Colours in the background really complement the deer's colouring.

Very nice image, i agree with Peter and would clone out the grasses.

yep, beautiful was the word that sprang to mind - love the composition with the antlers, and I personally would leave in the grasses if need be - doesn't detract from the image imo.

I like this 'as-is' - the grasses don't worry me and give a bit of an feel for the time of year and environment.

Nice portrait Phil.....I am also in favour of leaving the grass alone, as i think they add to the image rather than detract.
All the best

nice image phil. looking at those grasses, i think they actually add something compositionally wise, not sure what, maybe just that the image would look a bit right hand heavy without them.

thanks for your comments on my last post, i'll try and vary some flash setting next time as i have the full range of options with the housing that i do with the normal camera.

regards,

mark.

Hi Phil

Very very nice, I'm in favour of cloaning out the grasses - that said they don't bother me too much, great shot either way!

Very good one, Phil. I'm ok with the grasses and I think your cropping decision was the right one. :toast:

Hi Phil

I think it's a fine image as is, the grass adds habitat, very nice tone and colour. :toast:
