Wild Basin This Morning (with addition)
I'm trying to be better at posting things here as I've been neglectful over much of this past year, so here's another photo. This one was taken this morning in Wild Basin, RMNP. Comments and Critiques always desired.

It's looking a lot more thawed out compared to when I was last there.

Funny to see snow when it's forecast to be a soul-melting 110 here this weekend. I dig it, good layering.

I like the layering, too. The distant mountains look kind of a hazy blue.

Good to see you picking up some slack Eric. But hopefully the reason for your absence is due to great business success. I think you could afford to add a bit of contrast, but otherwise, the layering and color palette says Spring in the Rockies.

Thanks for the helpful input Todd and Mel!

Here's one more from this morning which I just processed. Spring is so fleeting but so wonderful. You can see a little larger and slightly better edited version here: http://imagesofrmnp.com/photo.php?id=1428

I shall call this Erik's Spot! I really like this one, Erik. You're right, in the blink of an eye those aspen leaves will blend right in with the evergreens. :frown:

I found the first one nice, but nothing really special (relative to your body of work, of course).
Now this second one is quite a beautiful scene...real nice light, foliage, skies and reflection!
However, both appear to be 'developed' with some sort of technique that robs them of contrast. Not that there's anytyhing wrong with that, but the uniformity just lacks a 'pizazz' that I know both of these images possess.

Hmm, I'm wondering if there is a problem with my monitor as they look to have good contrast on this end. Yikes!

Oh yeah, number 2 gets my vote...Niiice!!! :toast:

Hey, it may just be me, Erik. We'll see if others concur.

I like that second one. The balanced comp and layers work well.

Both are lovely, Erik, especially #2. I never tire of that view. I see what John is talking about. The contrast is just a little flat, almost like some fill light was added in LR, especially in #2. But, I don't see that as a problem. I think it suits the scene. A matter of taste I guess.

Erik, i really like the second one..the inclusion of the water makes it stand out!

Tough call for me with the images. Both have some very nice layers. I agree with the increased contrast on #1. For #2 I would have liked to see it just a little wider so that the aspens are not cut-off at the bottom. Those nit-picks aside, I will go with #2 as my preferred image as Longs is a popular peak.

I like #1 a lot, #2 is nice at all. The contrast looks fine to me, though i would take down the cyan a bit especially in #2. Real pretty stuff.

Steve, I agree but going wider wasn't an option for this shot due to several things on the sides and bottom of the frame. Stan I'll bring down the cyans a bit. I fixed the issues on the first image and posted the improved version on my website. Boy, I sure appreciate everyones input! Thank you!

The second image on your web site is beautiful.

I like the second posted image a lot. I wish that I could see the full reflection of the trees. Also, it seems a little flat. Maybe a bit more local or global contrast would make it better. Thanks for posting.

Lime green leaves rule. I agree with Momo about adding some contrast, probably on both images but a little more on the second one. Nicely done as usual Erik.

Both of those just sing! You brought out the greens perfectly.

Nice color and I really like the reflection in the second image.

Hi Erik. I'm a big fan of your second posted image. Excellent subject and composition. I concur that a hike in contrast, and I'd also add color vibrance in the greens, would help give this image some more punch. This could be a great place to return in the fall.

I like #2 a lot more, great composition and light. #1 is too hazy for my tastes.
