The wildflower season in Southern
California was very special this
year. The area near the small
community of Arvin was certainly
no exception. In this image I used
a rather shallow DOF (probably F11
or F13) to emphaize the Lupine in the FG.
I'm a little concerned about the possibility
that I've oversharpened with reference to the
background wildflowers. Comments/critiques
welcome.
I would say it look a bit oversharpend. I also find the DOF of field to be an in-betweener. I would either like it sharp back to front or see the background really out of focus so it is a strong selective focus effect. With this one, I would prefer to see it cropped to a horizontal presentation and have the sharpening backed off. You found yourself a fine field of color, though. Nice spot!
In light of some very helpful critiques, I've lessened the sharpening
on the image and reposted here. I also changed the tonality a
little, warming the image somewhat. I can't do anything regarding
the DOF. Unfortunately, I failed to adequately bracket. I would
appreciate your feedback. Thank you for viewing.

Very nice bloom, with great colors. The lack of DF is distracting, so maybe crop to feature the FG lupines. bBest Regards.
