Puffin bringing home the bacon
Had two visits to the Farnes, one a damp grey day another on a bright sunny day, found I had better success on the former. Have decided that I get better flight shots with my VR turned off especially on these fast moving missiles.

Funny looking Bacon, Tim! Lovely shot that could do with a tad more contrast perhaps!

Fab shot. I always turn off the IS on flight shots too, knowledge gained also when photographing bullet puffins.

Very nice. No wondder you're pleased with this. I should imagine it'd be quite a tricky shot to get.
The 300+1.7 in a nice combo. (I expect that's a 300 2.8?)

Hi David, yep it's the 300mm F/2.8 I think this is my favorite lens so versatile, reasonably light, and of course outrageously sharp.

Nice Tim,

Personally I would like a touch more room below and to the left... for presentation here it is great (an image I would love to have on file)

A Cracker!! I think it could take even more contrast. Given your settings and the sky colour, must have been very bright - maybe hazy?

Cracking shot Tim :toast:

Second one looks better but could take a tiny bit more contrast I reckon

Great detail in this, it must look good larger.
Not sure about the crop though, maybe a little bit more on the left

Very nice and very sharp! Interesting tip on turning off the VR/IS, will have a try on the puffins here when I get the chance, as well as playing with autofocus search on/off....
