Siberian Iris Macros
D200
Tripod
f/2.8 70-200mm w/ Canon D500 Close-up
These really dark iris are hard to shoot...they're velvet.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for looking.

Really like the blues in the second image.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I would LOVE to see that first one in black & white.

Interesting detail.

#2 is also my favorite. The blue color is just brilliant. I like the b&w version of #1 too. The other two seem just a little dark to me but not by much.

You might consider bringing along some colored or black/white cloth to get some more interesting backgrounds. A little reflector/diffuser can also work wonders.

Okay, now add a little stronger vignette to emphasize the flower and, more importantly, de-emphasize the background. But I am lovin' it!

Here ya' go Todd! It's Not B&W but I like it much better.
I used the Vertus mask software and then worked it out from there.
Thanks,

Nice stuff, especially #2 and the reworks on #1. I think macros are hard to do well. Nice job.

I am in agreement with Paul that #2 and the repost of #1 the tops in the set. The reworked background does help the flower stand out. These type of shots are harder to make than what they first appear. Well done.

They are all wonderful images. I like the B&W conversion simply because it's an interesting exercise in what details your eye gravitates to without the "distraction" of the color. The last color repost is also a great improvement.

Yeah, those are outstanding! Great color, and I even love the b&w. That last repost really rocks. :toast:
