I noticed tonight that Lon Overacker, moderator at ESS, has passed the 10,000 comments milestone. As I'm sure many from that forum will agree, these comments are not the usual ataboys. They're thoughtful, helpful, insightful, and much appreciated. It's always great to have a moderator as engaged as Lon who shares his time and knowledge with the other participants as well as the inspiration of some fantastic images. Thanks!
It has been my great fortune to have had many opportunities to shoot with Lon in the Sierra, and we have had some great campfire talks about many things, including large format photography. He has critqued my prints, and always inspired me.
So, Lon, I'll heartily add my toast to you for your friendship and inspiration, not only to me, but for all of those whom you have touched.
Thank you Tony for posting this update.
An amazing milestone to achieve with his comments typically much more then the normal statements outlining some obvious critique items. Lon's reviews always hit the expected items, but additionally there is usually some extra thought placed on the maybe not so easily seen as well. As a moderator in the ES&S gallery there are a lot of images up for review all the time, making the task not easy at all for those involved with those duties. Congrats on reaching this very high plateau, and thank you for all your efforts as well, Lon.
All right, Lon! It's about time you caught up with the rest of us
I very much appreciate all the helpful and thoughful comments youve given me, and all the great photos you've shared--you are one of the best!
In just over a year of membership here, Lon has been a terrific online guide in helping me try to reach my goal of becoming a better photographer. There is a long way to go, but his critiques are specific, and the manner in which he does so is friendly yet educational. I'm always happy to read his thoughts on people's work and thank him for all of the times he's responded to an email or a posted photo of mine. Awesome, awesome job Lon!!! (and great photos too!)
Thanks Lon! Your comments are always appreciated and always helpful.

I couldn't agree more. Lon, your time and efforts on NPN are noticed and appreciated more than you could probably know. Congratulations on a major milestone.
congrats Lon - I must wonder, though, where you take the time? can you give me a secret? I believe I have to become 150 yrs old to reach 10000 comments - especially the way YOU write them.
which is the most important for me - not the 10000, but the content. always sg to think about. (if not ALWAYS sg to agree with... )

Lon: Thanks for all you do at ES&S. My only bone to pick with you is you don't post enough in Flora. You need to work on that . Congrats on a really fine milestone. >=))>
Wow! Thanks so very much for the kind words. I've been trying for a while to catch up with Tony's comment/post ratio, but I finally gave up. No one's going to catch him.
Without getting to wordy as I tend to do... It's just been great to be associated with so many fine people and I truly enjoy the interaction. I love helping others, but I have to be honest too and say I also love the feedback. Thanks to all who have made this a great community!
Pete - Not quite sure what I smell like over in ES&S.... - I think that was a compliment?

I can, however, tell you what Lon smells like after three days camping at Sonora Pass!
No doubt, I likely have a similar aroma!
That's why we sit on opposite sides of the campfire and debate the finer points of photography, and life in general! Being at one with the dirt is fine with us!
Thanks Man, for all you have given to me and everyone else here. Your images are top tier, and your thoughtful praises, and considerate criticisms have helped me immensley. I appreciate it very much!
Thanks Lon, for your hard work and much-appreciated critiques.

Another thank you for the comments Lon. They've certainly helped me as has the frequent encouragement. I check every landscape I do for overly blue mountains and the images are better because of it. Many thanks.
