My wife and I are planning to spend our 25th anniversary touring the San Juan Skyway in August. We will be camping around the loop at Ridgway SP, Molas Lake, Mesa Verde, and Matterhorn Campground. We hope to be doing a little hiking, a little sight-seeing, a little shopping, and lots of exploring. Any specific photo-stop recommendations from this group would be greatly appreciated. Can't wait till August.
Sounds like a good way to spend an anniversary. Lots to do and see in that area (especially around the towns of Ouray, Silverton and Telluride IMO).
If I could only choose one hike there it would be to Ice Lake Basin. Getting to the trailhead isn't too bad (on an unpaved road, but passable without 4wd or even high clearance with care) and the scenery is some of the most beautiful in the San Juans. It gets a bit steep between the lower and upper lake, but it is worth it if you are up to the challenge.
You didn't mention what time in August you'll be visiting or for how long, but the earlier you are in August the better chance you'll see wildflowers. Nevertheless, it should be a beautiful time to visit.

To better answer, what type of vehicle will you be driving?
