same day as the footsteps shot.

Looks like an interesting place to visit. I'm thinking a wider angle lens or a different crop might have worked better here - seems like many of the elements in the frame are cut-off.

I've looked at this several times now and think there is an interesting comp hiding in this scene. What if you cropped out everything but the small cascade/fall and kept that area pretty tightly framed? A tight vertical crop revealling only that area might defy a sense of scale and bring focus to a very interesting part of the overall scene. Just a thought.

i appreciate the inputs, thats why i post, but honestly i am happy with this composition as it is. for some reason it is pleasing to me, at any rate i did make a few other options as well, please im not trying to shut anyone down here or anything, or be snotty, this one just works for me like this. here's a link to a tighter vertical that highlights the cool fern growing out of the tree on the upper left.

Drew, you don't have to explain to anyone here why you like this. You're the artist and the only one whose opinion really matters. For what it's worth though, I think the image you linked to is much stronger.

Hey Drew, I agree with Bill - No need to explain why you like it - We all have some that we like "Just because we like them". I have a couple in a Basic Photography seminar I'm giving and I plan on saying they are there just because I like them.

All that said - The shot is well balanced with the cascade on the left balanced by the clear water extending into the center right. Also, the shrubs in the top center are balanced by the large boulder in the bottom center.

well thanks, i just wanted to be careful not to come off as unappreciative of your inputs, i know i can get irked if someone posts a shot and then is defensive about criticism, its kinda like..."why'd you bother to post if you don't want to hear what people think?" lol.
