Oystercatcher in Flight
Given that this is one of a pair that constantly cheep outside my bedroom window at night, it should consider itself lucky to be shot with a camera!

1D4
400/2.8
1/640th
f3.5
ISO 800
handheld

Slight crop from top and rhs to get rid of highlighted blobs

On a second note-
I find it amazing that a shot like this gets so many views and so few comments. This is supposed to be a " Nature Photographers" Forum.
Take a Butterfly , Dragonfly, Bird on a twig,Wild flower etc, all of which just "sit there whilst you alter your position, remove an obtrusive background, even move the subject, set your tripod up, spray your subject for some " dewey" effects, catch your subject and put it
somewhere "nice " etc , etc ,etc ----- If its a bit exotic looking - wow - whoopee- every one loves it,
How can you compare all that with a shot of a bird in flight for example ?
Am I confused or what ?

They look best when in the air in my opinion, a shot of exploding one now that would be amazing.
Love the soft light and colours , cracking flight shot.

John refreshing to see this bird in flight rather than on the ground. The BG really makes the colours 'sing', great capture. :toast:

Many years ago I camped in Shetland, and had one (or more) of these flying over my tent calling all night. I think I might have been more tempted with a 12 bore than a camera
