Redstart in Tree
Redstart
Had some frustrating times with this one at the weekend. Had got it ready with mealworms for DK and FD's visit. Everything fine until a pair of blue tits latched onto the free food. Strange thing is that the Redstart was petrified of the Blue Tits even in his own nestbox territory. I gave up with the feeding and just did him in the tree in the end.
( I think Fred wanted to shoot the Tits !! )

How sad to have to photograph one in a tree instead of what you had planned! I'm green with envy as I have never managed any shots of a male redstart, let alone one as good as this. With this pose I would have preferred the bird to be a little higher in the frame, but that may be the jealousy speaking!

Hi David
Thanks. Yes I agree about the positioning but the truth is I couldn't decide whether to keep the leaves in or not ! I left them in the end
:frown:

I think this is spot on! Any shot that makes the subject look beautiful is a winner for me :toast:

positioning looks spot on to me John, given the position of those leaves. A lovely alert pose and a very attractive bird.
